Pipe Bombs are beginning to explode in Obamacare.
Hugh Hewitt gave an apt description when he said that Obamacare will be the equivalent of a myriad of pipe bombs exploding one after the other. It’s a pretty apt description as no one knew what was in the bill. Indeed, Nancy Pelosi’s closing argument was we needed to pass the bill “to find out what’s in it”:

How prescient she was. After finding out about the myriads of businesses that are making adjustments to their healthcare plans due to Obamacare, the tanning tax (which, IMO, is tax on white people since they are the majority of people who use tanning salons), and the fact that none of the proposed “benefits” kick in until 2014 (remember them bragging that if you had a pre-existing condition you won’t get denied anymore?), we now find out that states are having to make drastic changes to their Medicaid plans. Indeed, here is what my state of Arizona has to do:
Arizona must drop a plan to cut its Medicaid program’s generous eligibility and instead pay an additional $3.8 billion over the next three years under the federal health care overhaul, state officials reported Thursday.
Arizona also stands to pay billions of dollars more in subsequent years than less generous other states would have to pay, even after increased federal funding starts in 2014, the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System said in a report.
Gov. Jan Brewer and the Republican-led Legislature included a rollback of AHCCCS eligibility to help balance the $8.5 billion budget for the next fiscal year. The rollback would have dropped 310,000 people, roughly a quarter of the 1.3 million people now served.
But AHCCCS officials concluded Thursday that the health care overhaul’s so-called “maintenance of effort” requirements require Arizona to keep its Medicaid program at current levels in order to keep getting federal dollars. They said the state will incur $3.8 billion of added costs for its Medicaid population before increased federal funding starts in 2014.
But who worries about this kind of stuff? Pelosi and Obama only cared about making history and progress!! I warned on several other boards that the states are the ones who would ultimately bear the brunt of this legislation because of the fact that the feds would shift a lot of the “uninsured” into Medicaid. Shifting costs doesn’t get rid of the costs.
There are bound to be more pipe bombs going off inside this bill. We haven’t seen anything yet.
